Speedometer probs!? help please

There is a plastic gear inside the transmission that drives the gear on the end of the speedo cable. I think they make like 6,7,8,and 9 tooth gears. You probably have a different drive gear in there and need to adjust the gear on the end of the speedo cable to match. They are color coded so if you take the speedo cable out and shine a flashlight in there you should be able to find out what gear is in there.

is this a common problem for this car? i heard alot of 5.0's have this problem.

your speedo is probably bad you should pull the speedo cluster and drive the car around the block and see if the cable is spinning have a friend come with you and watch you will see if its hanging up if the gear in the tranny is bad the you will see the cable skipping when it turns . when the speedo is out you will see where the cable connects you can spin it with your hand you should see the speedo bounce when you spin the piece in the back
