Desperately seeking help

Ok, I have a 95 GT....First things first....My problem started out with smelling gas fumes, so I was told the converters were stopped up and needed to be replaced, cleaned, or removed. Of course I picked removed, because I had done this with another auto and it improved my hp greatly, but about a month down the road it started having problems.

The problem is this... it starts and idles fine, but when i decide to take off, its like it isnt getting enough gas and barely moves, now if I just ease the gas down it will kick in and take off, somewhat, but when I try to accelerate im sluggish and barely moving until it gets warm and then its still not 100%.

I changed the plugs, wires, fuel filter, distributor but nadda, so I took it to a mechanic nearby. He saw the converters off and said theres your problem. So I took it back to the exaust guy who just took whatever the tube coming from the motor was and placed it inside the exaust system, still nothin.

As you can tell, im no mechanic, so sorry if this isnt makin much since

Anyways, the car has been at the mechanics for over 2 months( workin on it in spare time to save me money) but they have replaced the fuel pump, 4 times, replaced a O2 sensor, and replaced the fuel regulator 5 times. The fuel pump was reading 50lbs until they upgraded to what ever the Fook they put in it, and now its pushing 90lbs....the regulator however is reading, i think, 29 lbs until you give it gas and then it goes to 22lbs. They said if you pinch off the retun line it runs like a top, but otherwise im still at my sluggish when giving it gas.

They are recommending I install a adjustable regulator and that it should fix the problem.... So, I geuus Im wandering if its the converters missing thats the whole problem, though it did run for a month after they were removed.

Again, sorry for the lack of knowledge, but if I had it, geuss I wouldnt need to come here?

fuel psi should be at 38 psi. also sounds almost like your tps is going bad, maybe reads good if you accelerate real slow, but with normal movement it gets erratic. Do you have a ck eng light? has anyone ckd for codes at all?

Yes, the check engine light had been on but the mechanic reset it obviously because its not now, also said that there were to many codes, and that was from the catalytic conv. being off

29 psi is definitely not right. stock regulators run at 39 psi. get yourself an adjustable one. when you install it it, make sure you adjust it to 39-41 psi with the vacuum line off, then once you've adjusted it, put the vacuum line back on and you should be good to go
