Jerking and Pinging
HI, I got a 95 5.0 gt about a month ago. as my hubby & I were test driving the car it was jerking .the dealer said the plugs and distributor got wet .an obvious lie. but I loved this car and thought we could surely fix it .its not the tranny we found a vaccum line on hooked .put that back on changed the plugs and the car still jerks ,the check engine light comes on after the car is warmed up ,this car also pings and looses power like it has bad gasoline. we are just guessing .... dirty fuel injectors? clogged vaccum lines ?? or grrrrrCatalitic Converter ?? what do ya'll think ??

If the CEL comes back on did you check it? jerking sounds like a vacuum leak, they all might be connected but a hose might cracked.

besides checking all of your vacuum lines for cracks, brittleness and holes, you might want to change your fuel filter. let me know what you find

key on engine running : 172:lack of Ho2 on bank one ,632 torque converter switch didn't change state . key on engine off :172, 173: lean,rich on bank 1, 212:loss of IDM input to PCM sport circuit grounded. and now the work begins !!

besides changing fuel filter and checking your vacuum lines, here is what you need to do: 1. replace your Oxegen sensors.2. take your air intake system apart and clean it out with throttle body cleaner i.e. throttle body and your maf. replace the air filter with a K&N, AND DEFINIITELY replace the i.a.c.(it was gone at 70,000 miles.

holy bejeezus ! we change spark plug wires ,distributor cap & roter and the baby purs like the baby lion ! the old parts were all from 95 they had never been changed !!! I am on the highway tomorrow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ho2 on bank one >>>> back to the original plan ...doing this today .. reset timing and now the pinging sounds like an exhaust leak !!! pulling hair out ... but I still love this car !!!!

set the timing ,the correct timing made it run worse.reset it and now its a little better.

is it mising ? i nce ad a truck (wont say what brand) but i had clocged injectors and it was running lean bad, start cracking plugs, little black line on plug hard to see. but here is the deal it would run good at first with new plugs then run lean, and crack them..so anything that can make it run lean will hurt you.. change those O2 sensors.... how many miles on car...
