Shift Light Help?
I am installing a shift light will it light up if I rev it but its not in gear?Or do I need to be in gear for it to work?Its only 3 wires and I cant get the damn thing to work it is very frustrating.Thanks for your help

the green wire goes to the negative side of the coil. every time you rev it should come on reguardless of being in gear or not.

Yea I had ran the cable to the coil but the distributor was also in the wiring and it wasnt working I ran it were it is going straight to the negative on the coil where the plug is.

Red= battery+, Black=battery-, Green=coil- that should work. What brand is the shift light?

its a summit shift light I will run it directly to the coil tomorrow early morning so I can have it for the track.
