performance water pumps?

What is the advantage, if any to using these Weiand (I think) really expensive pumps? Or other types over an auto parts store pump.

A stock 5 liter pump will cool almost anything.

i have meziere electric pump that works great. no cooling problems since installed

The new water pumps such as the aluminum housed Wieand will flow more coolant at low rpm such as in heavy trafic or cruising. They are machined, not just rough cast so the impeler to housing clearance is much closer. I used to have cooling problems with a 351W using the crappy rebuilt unit from Napa. The Wieand solved the problem and a cheap fix considering it's only about $30 more than a rebuilt POS.
