Water Methanol Injection

I have a chevy duramax diesel dually 4 dr with 24.5 tractor trailer wheels and have some mods done to the motor and all of the diesel guys are going with water methanol injection....I have not heard anyone talk about it for their mustang though .....so my question is do any of you run water methanol injection i know its main use is for turbos but you can use it without turbo to advance your timing farther anyone using it if so how does it work .....I was thinking to put it on my truck for the turbo but if it will help on my stang will do it also

Na I wouldnt say you would want to. Deisel burns different then gas alot different thats why you cant use nitrous with a Deisel.

Methanol/water injection will give you the same benefits when used on a boosted gas engine as it will for a diesel engine. It reduces the temperature of the air/fuel charge and increases the octane which allows you to use more fuel and/or more timing then you would be able to use without the methanol injection without breaking something. For a diesel engine, the combustion and exhaust temperature is typically the major limit and for boosted gas engines preignition is the issue because of the excessive heating of the incoming air in the compressor (either turbo or SC).
Methanol does not give you any more power directly but allows you tune what you have for more power. Using methanol injection on a non boosted gas engine would provide some benefit but the gains though tuning that would put you closer to preignition would be minimal compared to other mods for about the same price.

Hey thanks thats kind of what I thought I think I am going to do it on my dually and yes you can run nitrous on diesels .....diesels are so easy to get huge HP numbers....I have done CAI, exhaust, wastegate, programmer, chip, propane, and a couple other mods and it is ridiculous....no dyno but low 13's high 12's through the 1/4 on 24.5 tractor trailer wheels......depending on the weather conditions.....and yeah yeah 8T6 its a CHEVY...in 2003 they were better than the Ford I had fords for work and bought the chevys cause i blew so many superduty trannies.....but the new one with the 6 spd auto and the twin turbo is BADASS...I love my truck though shes getting a new front end right now due to losing the old one in an accident
