93 Octane

im about to go fill my car up with gas.. i have about a quarter of a tank, and i was wondering if i'd notice any difference at all with 93 octane instead of the 87 i've been using.. if i put 93 in it along with the 1/4 tank of 87 that's already in it, would it hurt anything? would it drive better/worse?

only gain you are going to get is that you can bump your timing up a little more without it detonating.....maybe....

higher octane gasoline actually has a lower caloric value, and has a slower rate of combustion.

Its like they said it doesnt do you any good to burn higher octane if you dont have your timing advanced......but if you wanna burn premium all the time you can advance your timing and that is free power

i know when i put 87 in mine, all i do is PING, BOG, PING, BOG, PING, BOG... 93 rarely runs good for my car, mine loves that 110.

which is due to your timing and compression.

I dont know exacly what has been done to my car, but when I use 87 my 2nd gear scratch is not nearly as long as when I use 93 and the idle is a little down. I hate to see my car go but im about to sell it for a 35mpg saturn. im going to start college and it will be 60 mile round trip so 15mpg vs 35 and cheaper insurance, but when I get the job I want I wont have to care about gas prices. and I wont make the mistake of buying a vert again.

Bump your timing up and run 93, you should feel a little difference.

I'd be running E85 with that much compression, instead of 110. 110 gets expensive. E85= Cheap race fuel This is just me though.

Higher octane fuel burns slower and makes the pistons go up and down straighter

its for use if you have ping with a crazy timing set up

You can't just put e85 in there... unless you're trying to scam a new motor from your wife or parents.
