Boring and Stroker?

hey just a teenager.. so keep that in mind.

(means low budget and daily driver pssst)

got a stock 302, want to stroke it. got the money saved for just the 347 rotating assembly but its 302...

do i HAVE to go to 306? i really dont need the extra boring do i? (yes i know it would be a 342 instead of 347)

plus, i live in columbia SC, so do any of you know where i could get it bored out for pretty cheap around this area if i have to get it done? thanks.

P.S. planning on buying the Woody's 347 gt fighter kit, anyone have any other suggestions?

You need to know the finished size of the bore right now. I want you to run between .004-.005 piston to wall clearance. If you need to have the block honed another .001 to clean it up, you may or may not know if a 4 inch std bore piston will fall within my above guideline. The best option is to have it bored and honed with a torque plate to a final size of 4.032-4.033, since the probe pistons measure 4.028, this will leave you with the desired .004-.005 piston to wall clearance, on top of it you will need to notch the bottom of the cylinders so it will get a little messy grinding. Its not a big deal, take your time, ask me questions and I will get you squared away

Just a teenager... prolly means you don't have a lot of the bolt-ons??? If this is true.... do the bolt-ons first.... get a decent exhaust system, air filter, intake, brake-upgrade, suspension, transmission, then add some decent heads, cam, and a power adder. If that still isn't enough HP for you, then get the stroker...
I run 10's on street tires, and when some kid at the track asks if I have a stroker motor... I say I do.... honestly..... I have exactly 302 cubic inches.....
