It doesnt necisarily need a new heater core. I just replaced mine 4 months ago and I am having the same problem as this. The heater only gets warm doesnt even get close to being hot. I would also like to know whats causing this. I was thinking somewere along the lines of a thermostat

Could Be The Thermostat

I'd think a stuck open thermostat could also cause this.

I think that is my problem I need a new thermostat. Sometimes it will not open at all and the car will start to overheat other times it wont close and the car never even gets close to getting warm.

Im not sure this problem happens to me but I think its my thermostat. But since you changed yours a year ago its not bad. Did you put in the stock thermostat or one that kicks on at a lower temp. I belive they are supposed to have a 185*not postive on the temp but that sould be very close

not really sure to be honest I might change that first just cause it is easier. But the car always run on the A on normal on the gauge every now and then it gets up to the m but the heater is never hot
