Fuel Pump problems

I have an 89 GT. I was driving the car and it suddenly just died and would not restart. The fuel pump is not running. I recently purchased the car and the car had not been driven in some time. My gut instinct was that the pump had gone bad. I replaced the pump and had the same issue. Next step, it has to be the fuel pump relay, so I replaced it. Any ideas on where to start next. I am getting a code 95 from the system. Can anyone help short cut the issue for me?

Did you have 12V at the pump

Did you have 12V at the pump, You did replace the fuel filter, correct?

Have you checked the inertia relay? It should be in the trunk on the drivers side, be sure it is good. should have less than 5 ohms resistance across the terminals. Do you have 12V there?

Do you own a multimeter? Did you check for power before replacing the Pump? Should have.

I initially did not check voltage. I was really confident that the pump had just gone out. I did however check for voltage tonight. I have nothing at the pump, I have nothing on either side of the inertia switch. I then went to check for current at the relay. No so good. I looked up the schematic for the wires to test out on the fuel pump relay, put the multimeter to it, and as soon as I touched my ground, I get an arc. Now I know I must have a short somewhere. Any ideas? Anyone? I'm now leaning toward a faulty ignition switch.

89's have the relay under the seat still, so should be easy to run some power direct to that thing and call it a day.
