Low Compression High Boost?
I know i want to put force induction on my car weather it is a s/c or t/c i am not sure yet but i wanted to know would it be the same if you put high boost on a low compression engine and putting low boost on a high compression engine?? it all boils down to how much compression you have at the top of the stroke right??

If you're going Power Adder(AKA) Super charger, Turbo, Nitrous .. You need "LOW COMPRESSION PISTONS"
or.... If youre going all motor.... You would use HIGH COMPRESSION Pistons.

the compression would depend on the type of power adder. for a twin screw blower, you need lower compression than for a centri blower. the best thing to do is figure out your plan for the build and then follow that plan. call up different engine builders and see what they recommend for pistons. you can lower your compression by simply increasing the size of the piston dish. hope this helps...

high boost+ low compression = more "torquier"..better for the street and pump gas
low boost+ high compression = more top end power...better for the track and race gas. please define medium-sized turbo because that's a new one to me. FOr a 331 you should be looking at something like a MP-T70, PT64, or maybe a GT35R..something along those lines with a .81-.96 A/R or so. 0.68 would work, but i think it'd choke it out up top on a stroker. thats why i am here to ask questions..i would rather type it so everyone can see and give their opinion rather then just one person that may or may not know what they are talking about.and if they give me wrong info there 20 other ppl to tell them they are dumb...

how much hp are you looking for? if you were to get a 67mm that could put you in the peak efficiency range with like 450 hp

well a 76 will make like 550-575 in perfect efficiency, and that is too much for your stock block, but that turbo will also make over 1000hp with the supporting mods and a good tune. alot of supra guys run a 76 and make over 1000 to the wheels using a th400

Also, you don't need lower compression for boosted applications unless you are getting up there in boost (10 PSI or more). You can control detonation with an intercooler, pulling timing, appropriate A/F ratio, and high octane fuel. And lower compression is relative. Stock 5.0s only have 9:1 compression, that is pretty good for 15 PSI.
