Should I? (Modular Fox)

a friend of mine had a 96 GT with the 4.6 in it which he totaled but the drive train is still good and i have a 85 mustang with 0 drive train

is it practical for me to put the drive train out of his car into mine

and do the 4.6 have the same engine mounts as the ones that are still in the my car or no i have to change those too

you'd have to get a different k-member. Otherwise i believe the drivetrain is pretty straight-forward swap. There are a few minor things you'll need to address though. Im not 100% sure...I know there's someone here that knows. But a 4.6 swap in the fox has been known to be somewhat difficult...Im goin to assume it'll be a wiring "hell"...and exhuast will have to be custom..

No dont do it. Those motors came stock with 215 HP it would not be worth the money for the swap

thats the worst year for the stock mod motor

Well theres a plan but the problems off the bat you will run into is PATS system not letting the motor run. You will have to swap the entire wireing harness into it also.

PATS Passive aint teft system

Its in the key there is a chip in the key that the PATS system reads. When you try to start the car the computer picks up on that key that has the chip programed in it. If this key trying to start the car isnt programed into the computer the motor wont start.

But people have put mod motors in foxes before so there has to be a way around it

I wouldnt for that crappy motor now if it was a 99 or better than go for it.Also you will need a stand alone fuel system or one hell of a wire harness job your self which is pretty much as hard as a triple bypass open heart surgery.Good Luck.Oh yea but I didnt say it cant be done I just would for that motor because all the $ you spend on motor, tranny, and wiring you could get a crate motor with some nicer HP.
