408 Stroker Build Comments / Suggestions


This will be my first motor and it will be a long drawn out build that will more than likely my dd/every now and then drag car for awhile then my weekend car after i get another car.


351 block .030 bore
chp 408 stroker kit
jay allen custom camshaft
roller cam conversion
edelbrock victor jr heads
scorpion rocker arms
trick flow r series 5.8l intake
bbk long tube headers
bbk h-pipe
slp exhaust
csr electric water pump
ford racing oil pump
canton pan
tremec tko600

just kinda want some feedback from u guys. also i will be getting my block worked on soon and its already been hot tanked but what all do i need to take with me to the mechanic when its time to put in the stroker kit?

Buy all of the parts and take them all to the machine shop when you go to have the work done.

Sounds like a pretty good set up.

yeah, but theres better heads than those for 351w..but for the price those are still good..you going to have head work done?

also thinkin about throwing in a shot of nitrous nothing big for those few drag runs

i might have the heads worked alittle but it all depends on the power i make from that setup and how much the guy will charge me to open them up alittle

worry bout that when you get there...you dont even have a built motor to throw N20 on..

porting all runner exhuast and intake and bowls, along valve job done too just = more HP

Victor Jrs are a good head. A good friend of mine goes 9.0s with Victor heads on a 408.

im not saying they arent...but like he just said in other thread...even worked E7's can go 9s...

also for anyone who has a 351 n the fox will the fenderwell intakes still work considering the engine sits up higher? and would a anderson n/a power pipe do me any good here
