Explorer Engine In A Mustang

I was wondering if any knew if the explorer 1997 engines has a place for a distributor? I found a whole engine out of a 97 explorer for 400.00 with 80,000 mile and was wondering if I could fit it into my 1987 mustang with a few sensor changes , or if it will not work at all ????

does you're current motor run fine right now? if it does that stick with it and buy the upper and lower intakes and heads...

and WTF a place for an distributor, those motors are internally distributed...they have normal distributors just like every other 5.0

Well I thought they had coil packs I just looked at the picture wrong, sorry . I didnt think they had distributors. The engine in my stang is toast. My heads are Junk machine shop wouldnt even let me unload them (cracked) . So I have only a short block left that needs boring and crank turned , I really dont want anything other than a stock engine right now , but I dont want less power than what I had either. The engine seemed like a reasonable price and comes with a warranty.

Speedstang302 , I dont know where you got your info from that a 97 explorer is not DIS , your wrong , they are DIS as I suspected , however there is a crank sensor in the place of the distubutor.

I really dont understand why every time I have posted on this form I get some sort of smart ass remark.

I have been a ASE master tech for 18 years and dont know everything and just looking for some simple answers and always get cussed in the reponse. I just dont get it.
