Harnessing Horsepower With Dyno Tuning?
What's up
has anyone had a custom chip made for there combination.I am in need of getting one and want to know how it works.I know I can get a 4 bank superchip for my A9L for $375 and 2 hours @ $150 on the dyno.I built a probe 347 w/AFR 185's and comp stroker cam. It runs like shit ,unless its WOT . My best run is 8.20 1/8 and 13.022 1/4.![]() Does it sound like this chip will cure it? What is programed into it? |

I would put the chip on hold and do the dyno tune first. The chips can squeeze some more power from a well running engine but they do not fix or work around something that is not working right. Imagine if you have a dying o2 sensor and you are running extremely rich, a custom chip can cut back your fuel but now you have a fuel map based on a broken o2 sensor. Its not really that simple but I think you get the idea.

thanks for the info makes total scence. I'm not shure where my timing should be it runs the best at about 32 degrees and fuel presure at 35 gives it a good air fuel mix.My fuel injectors are way to big there 42s.I put them on when I built the engine because I wanted a supercharger.I have a Paxton 2000 kit but need a pulley and belt to install it.I will take it to the mustang shop and make shure all is well. Both runs where at diferent tracks the 1/4 was on a brand new set of MT et street 235 60 15 I did spin'em a little it was 1 in the morning dew was falling that run also had an 8.6 1/8. my best 1/8 mile run was at an 1/8 mile track it was a hot and sunny day but I felt like it hooked.and that was the best of 5. Thanks for reply

Those injectors are more then likely the source of your problem. A custom tune and chip can help. You probably have idle hunting and/or stalling when letting off the gas as well or if you don't, your lucky
. Maybe the lower 35# fuel pressure is low enough to keep it running.I went the other route, 30# injectors and an FMU.

Ya there way to big it want idle unless its hot and it sticks around 1800 and when it wants to idle it hunts and nearly dies.not fun on the streets. The charger set up will be set around 10-12 psi.do you think they will still be to much?

Just a guess but those 42 won't be too big when you go with the 10-12 boost. If anything, you might need more.
While waiting for your tune, you could double check all of your vaccuum lines, PCV, IAB, TPS etc and pull any codes from the EEC4 to see if you have other things going on other than the larger injectors.

yeah take the 42s off for now..and put bigger ones on when you do s/c...24/30 would be fine for now..i'd say 30 you're better off...plus do the dyno tune well worth it...

I would save a little longer and get an Anderson PMS and a wideband o2 and you will never ever need a dyno unless you want to know how much hp you have.. Make sure that your air charge temp sensor is working..

Best money I ever spent.. The tuning is all but unlimited. Boost, fuel, timing, No2, whatever... I love mine..
