2nd gear


i just did the t5 swap on my steed and im having an issue. i have no traction in 1st gear, stock 2.73 rear, wen i slam 2nd it bogs down. whats the trick to get goin in first and then goin into 2nd.

Better tires. I run MT e.t. streets drag radials 275/60/15 and have no issue with traction.... even in the rain.

2.73's make tire spinning worse because of the speed you need to shift to second without bogging, I have them in my 91. Obviously better tires would help but for now...
Starting friction is greater then sliding friction, once you start spinning or "sliding", its not as easy to stop them. Gradually give it more gas in first until you build up some speed without spinning. There is no other way. You could start spinning and let off the gas a little and ride it out until it stops or your speed catches up with the tires. With that, your times would suck and you're 8 cars behind the other guy but you'll leave some nice long marks and you won;t bog down!

Chris did you have to roll the fenders at all wth those tires take out the quad shocks or anything. I ask ths because im thinking of the same tires fo mine.

And to answer it you need better tires like the others said

im gonna get 3.73s but not until spring time. im gonna drive my car "nice" for the next couple of months any way so i dont break anything then have to fix it in the cold.
