600hp 408 On Pump Gas?

ok so i'm going to be building a 408 to throw in my 1991 lx but i have some questions about the top end and what parts will do what i want.

i have a 351w out of an old bronco and its currently at the shop getting machined for the 408 stroker kit.

i would like to make 500 - 600 hp with out nitrous and then maybe add a 100 shot while i'm at the track but not too much. i don't know how well the older block will hold up. i would also like it to be street drivable enough to make the 30 mile drive to the track on the weekends.

so far i'm leaning towards trick flow heads and a super vic intake. but i have no idea what cam would work good with n2o and be street drivable. also i don't know the specifics of the heads i would want, 225cc 205cc etc...

lastly im looking at stroker kits from Ford Performance Solutions and i'm unsure about which level would be right for my application.

any thoughts suggestions or opinions are appreciated. thanks!

call up crane cams and tell them your mods and goals and they will custom build you a cam specific to your setup

Get in touch with Woody, hes a great guy on here. He owns FordStrokers. Hes got reciprocating assemblies, and im sure he can hook you up. As far as heads, im in the same boat right now, except with more than 408ci. Ive made my mind up on a set of CNC Ported TFS-R (225cc) heads, they will support 600+hp all day, with no power adders. And im not clear on what type of induction your going to use? Carb? EFI? Im kinda in the same dilema your in now... I dont feel alone anymore.

Oh, and according to alot of sources, and people... 600hp is plenty possible with pump gas and a 408.

for now im planning on a carb but it has come to my attension that the emissions laws in nh might require me to keep the car fuel injected... gotta figure that out tomorrow.

If you stay EFI.. your goals are still reachable, it'll just take some more effort on your part with tuning and peicing together a good fuel system and induction. Im staying EFI. Emissions in FL arent THAT strict, im just partial to EFI.

Im here, Overrun with phone calls and I am a newbie The longblock you see here FordStrokers.com 331-347-393-408-418-427 stroker kits and ford parts. - FordStrokers "Liberator" Short Blocks :: 408-418-427 Liberator Shortblock will make 600 on pump gas, but its going to take some thought and money on your part. 500 is much easier on the wallet.

ok 500 is still plenty so my first question is. would dished pistons create to much compression to run nitrous on an older block?

compression ratio is irrelevant with nitrous. You need to run a dish piston on a typical small block 58-61cc head, a flat top on a 408 with the typical small head will yield 12.5:1. Theres many things to touch upon, many things.

Typical 10.5:1 408 would consist of a 22cc dish, .041 gasket with a 4.100 bore, 58cc head at 0 deck

How strong are those Liberator shortblocks with the 2 bolt mains?

I see there are options like main girdles and stud girdles....are they extra on top of the $2,299.00 price?

I'm going to be shopping soon for a stroker...AFTER I get my suspension strong enough for that kind of power/torque... my low 12 second setup is threatening to rip the rearend out of the car as we speak.

The late model roller will go 650 before cap walk sets in. You can run the 2099.99 shortblock, cast crank, steel I beam, forged piston to about 550hp before problems. I offer them but main girdles are not a needed item on the windsors.
