Engine Shaking

So today i drove for about five minutes. Then i turned it off and got out, for a minute. I came back and started my car, and the whole entire car is shaking. I've had the car for two months, and besides this the car has been running perfect. Anyone ideas on what is wrong?

Check the harmonic balancer and your motor mounts. First thing that comes to mind.

could have dropped an cylinder by an bad spark plug...that causes an shake..also you will notice it a little more sluggish...along with you can hear it running different...could be that..could be a million different things

Its hard to tell between a non firing cylinder and a bad harmonic balancer, well it was hard for me. Not a perfect solution but you could attach a timing light to each individual wire and look for the flash for a spark issue, if a plug is bad and not firing, the light should not flash because there will be no current traveling through the wire. For the harmonic balancer, look at it and make sure it is even, the rubber insulator is even and in place between the outer and inner ring, and the outer ring is not loose or cocked funny. PS.. If it is the harmonic balancer, do not run it until you replace it!

I hope that is it! Mine required a 15/16 6 point socket and an extremely large breaker bar.

Ok, well I just picked up the balancer tonight. But I won't be able to put it in until the weekend, I'll let you know how it goes. What parts will I need? Will I need a puller?

Or buy your own HB puller, they are about $15. A large gear puller should work. The only thing extra I used was red threadlocker on the crank bolt because the previous person used it as well. Not sure if it is required though. Some people suggest replacing the crank bolt with a new one, I didn't. That would suck if your old one broke off.

+196317815279721 on the balancer thing and the fact that it might not be running on all cylinders.. I would start with that too..

I changed the balancer and the problem was fixed. I was also able to replace it without having to move the radiator. Thanks for the help everyone!
