I am not sure if there has been a thorough run through on how to do this but i will try and make it short and to the point...

As you can see there are 4 diagrams, but i know most people that want to get rid of smog also want to get rid of a/c too. So, it would do you no good to get rid of power steering and smog just to keep a/c.

The last diagram will be how the belt will end up being ran, you will need to take a tape measure to get a good judgement on the length of belt you need.

Ok, so you will unbolt the tensioner pulley from the alternater bracket by loosening the bolt on the rear side of the tensioner with a wrench or impack if need be.

You will have a tab on the back of the tensioner like on the farthest pictured.
You will need to grind that off completly to get a flat surface like tensioner #2.

Here is an example of a finished product. The tab was ground off so that you could pull the tensioner tight to get a hold on the shorter belt. Proceed to tighten the bolt on the rear of the tensioner back into place.

I decided to grind some of the tensioner housing away so i would have no problems of clearance. You could also run a little longer belt than what i have ran. (my setup has an underdrive crank pulley so i can not be certain my size belt will fit all setups)

If you decide to grind some of the tensioner housing away make sure to remember the bolt on the front of the pulley is reverse threaded. Righty Loosey, Lefty Tighty.

-Well this concludes removal of the smog & a/c pulley to run a smaller belt. I hope i covered all the details and could help. If somebody would like to chime in on the actual removal of the smog pump and pump lines that would be appreciated.
Hey man , I know this is an old post ,but thanks for the diagrams & info.
My Stang is now back on the road & I saved a few dollars by using your diagrams .

The waterpump is a reverse rotation water pump. SAME as STOCK. That IS the one shown in the pic.
