well it depens how far of it is anything from rogh idle and car not responding well (lack of power waste to much fuel ext) to the timing been way of and the motor detonating (pinging sound doring acceleration)and doing major damage to the motor when u run more timing in a car usaly
u have to use better gas ext 93 octain i would star at 12* and worck my way up if u get detonation go back a degre or two don`t go more than 18*

It means that you need to raise the distributor off of the drive gear and turn the rotor 180* then re set the distributor. Not too sure I would attempt it alone if youve never done it tho. At the very least, get a manual. If the previous owner didnt pull the distributor, its not 180* out. It could have jumped a tooth or two on the timing chain also. Does it pop or backfire through the throttle body?

take the chain off and turn the cam 180* from where it is now. we were changing the chain on the LT1 when it happened so turning the cam was the first place we went to.

Before you take it apart.......what did you do to cause this problem? A dizy did not jumo 180* by itself.

If it was 180 off it wouldn't run. You should stop speculating and check the timing, that'd be the first place to look. And what happened to cause this problem, like 55 said?

Ok since he aint here right I'll speak for him. He just bought the car. So we don't really know. Me and him were talkin all night last night tryin to figure out what it could be. Timing is what we settled on as a start, but after that we really couldn't figure out what may have been the problem.

maybe there is a difference, but a LT1 will most certainly run 180* out. of course the distributor is a completely different setup. it would be nice to know what changes the previous owner did.

I heard that underdrive pullies are bad for 5.0s. Heard that it doesnt turn the alternator fast enough so not enough amps get to the water pump and the engine can over heat.

Also dude your gonna have get bigger pullies if your gonna supercharge it.
