GT40P Heads, Mac Shorty Headers, What Wires To Go With?

So I bought a car with GT40P heads and mac shorty headers. The wires on the car were shot so I bought some Ford Motorsports 9mm with 3 wires promptly melted. Is there special wires or plugs I should be using? I was shocked how easy the plugs melted away. I thought they were made out of hard core silicone.

P heads are known for that due to the spark plug location. Get some boot insulators to cover the wires.

Does it matter if the boot/wire touches the header?

The protectors will keep the wires from touching the headers, only the protector will touch the headers and save the wire.

That's what I meant. The wire will still be resting on the header tho it will just have the protector boot in between.

Oh is there anyway to fix the burnt wire boots or just buy the 3 wires that are messed up? I'd rather not spend another 60 bucks for a set of wires

I would IMHO just buy a complete brand new set.

They aren't 90's almost but I wouldn't say they are. I had some high temp RTV and I coated them last night. I am going to head up to the store and get some header wrap. I also have some high temp fuel/wire shield and I am going to wrap around the plug boot. Where can you buy the new boots at?

i am pretty sure autozone should sell them if not look on ebay but if u are getting header wrap and covers for the boot u should be fine.. if it just melted the boot and not the wire itself then there should be no real harm done..just rtv it wrap it real good and u should be fine.

It seems to have done the trick. I drove it to work yesterday with no problems.
