Build It Or Buy It

whats going on people i need your advice. i love to drag race and have been for a while. i have owned both stangs and chevys over the years but none of them have been really fast. i drive a 01 gt and it has a lot of bolt on stuff done to it , i wont go into the list cause we already know that stuff. ihave the chance to get a good car but should i mod my 01 or buy a car ready to race. i have about 10,000 bucks but i dont want to spend money and hate the ride i have built. my idea with my o1 is to put in a 4;56 rear gear with axels and c-clamp elems, long tube headers and x pipe, a set of comp cams and springs, good clutch, keep in mind that the car has bbk cold air intake mass air meeter, 75mm tb and lower plenum, under drive pulleys, pcm has been reprogramed and i will be running on slicks. to all that i was thinking of also putting on one of the nos direct individual port fogger kits and running the gas at a 125hp shot. with all this i would like to get the car to run 11.50 or better in the 1/4 mile..... but i have the car set up nice as it is for my daily driver . i have an suv and i will be able to drive my suv daily and also pull the drag car to the track... or i have been seeing nice 5.0 lx and gts around on the net for like 7,000 bucks on a web page called racingjunk.com of those stangs i have seen i have even seen them with superchargers on them. i want a car that i can run 11.50 in and tune and run faster. i say 11s because im sure that some work will need to be done unless i get real lucky. i really want a 10 second ride, but not sure if i would be asking to much of my 2001 gt with its stock bottom end to run this fast and no break parts... can anyone give me some real advice

OK...well i reccomend buying an 4cylinder notchback foxbody...for around $1k-2K...but find an clean one...then build up an stroker $5-6k (est.) get an tremec trans for $2k (est) then rebuilt rear end with axles and some suspension...alot faster than that 01 gt...those 2v's arent an great base for an build..or you could sell the gt and take that $10k and buy an 03/04 cobra w/ KB s/c

i feel you but i really want to cheat a little what you said sounds good but i have seen a couple rides that i would dig into for a honest 5500 or 6000. i say that cause out the gate i dont want to due much work. im in iraq keeping you all safe and after being away from the smell off fresh m/t i cant stand to take the time to build... but if something braks then i would of course fix it and try to make it better at the same time.... i just feel that if i buy from some one else the hard work would already be done

Or buy one that is close to that for less then 1/2 the cost and save the labor time (which is no small amount) as well considering what all really goes into a swap like that. Not as cool as building your own but still makes sense depending on your goals. You will still get wrench time when it breaks

Look for a Mustang for sale that states "over $15K invested, will sell for $6500 obo" and talk him down to $5000.

Hey go on ebay right now and look at the blue hatchback from TAS I think, there in El Paso, TX that car is all complete but needs a motor that they will put in for you. All painted and hooked for 10gs

Being that I am a turbo guy, A good off the shelf system would be this.

Contact John he is a great guy, and super freindly, and is willing to go above and beyond to help his customers. The best thing about hellion, is that he stocks turbo systems, like they are nothing. Most turbo manufactureres take months to get you your gear, not John, he manipulated the product, and made a shit load of them before he went public. Just another option for you.

1987 mustang notch back there i think this is what u might be looking for and with 5k to spare u could do anything to it..
