Car Exhaust makes Whining noise

So i turned on my 1990 mustang 5.0 and i started hearing some whining sound coming from which im guessing is the exhaust. I put it in to drive and leave my driveway and the cars starts jerking and the car lost all its power and the whining sound got louder every time I hit the gas. I would press on the gas and i wouldnt go anywhere. Any one might have a idea whats wrong?

I don't think it might be the tranny because I just got the car in october with 79k miles and I have only put in about 3000. When I do drive the car shifts smoothly and everything. The guy I bought it off said it was garage kept. It just started doing that sound today and when I was driving it I would hit the gas and it would be jerking almost like I had no gas! But I have half a tank so I don't think that's the problem

could be ignition could be fuel, id give it a tune up "plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and ignition coil to if you want" and change the fuel filter. if that doesnt bring it back fuel pump or something more major... make sure to you have good oil pressure. the noise i cant explain without hearing it and examining it, so no help there sorry

could be a vaccum leak as well, sometimes they will make a high pitch sound, and definatly cause loss of power
