If you dislike your auto, sure its a great idea. You need a pedal box assembly (you can use any from all the 5 spd cars), you need the flywheel and clutch and supporting components from the donor car, center consel with the boot and shift linkage. Its straight forward if you've got all the stuff. I might be missing a few things, its been awhile since ive done an Auto-to-T5 swap. Good luck!

Realistically, if the donor car has all the components.. it shouldnt cost much more than 50 bucks. I say this because i wouldnt reuse a TOB or Pilot bearing, so you'd need to purchase new ones. I would also get a new fork (cheap) and clutch cable. Other than that stuff, its vastly cheap to do it. Just get a buddy to help you man-handle it up. Only takes a weekend to get it done.

Damn, 1200? For a stock T5 with clutch and flywheel? I paid 350 for everything when i did an AOD-to-T5 swap on my 91.

Goblin<
It was some time ago (8-9 yrs) but the trans cost 950.00 the remaining parts came out of a local junkyard. I swapped the AOD for the t-5 and then for the T-56. and I couldnt be more satisfied.

Right on man. I got a smokin deal with everything, so thats why my experience was so cheap.

I was swapping a T56 into my 91 GT a few months back, along with an 03 cobra motor. Had to sell it all because of a financial issues. Wish i didnt sell the T56 though, it'd be nice to have in the coupe.

I did an AOD-to-T5 swap a few years back for the first time, now I do them when buddies of mine want to do the swap. Which is quite often, Alot of my freinds are buying up 4 cylinder cars, that thad the crap ass automatics in them, that want them swapped. You can get with Derek from Westcoastfords.com he used to have a great write up that was detailed in step-by-step directions with pictures on his webpage, but form some reason it was taken down.
