Cleaning engine bay

Does anyone have any suggestions on this process? The engine and trans are out. The part I'm concerned about are all the unconnected plugs and the electrical harnesses. What products were used would be helpful. Any suggestions and advise would be greatly appreceated.

use some purple power or castrol super clean, not diluted , spray it on with a spray bottle or something like that, then used a pressure washer, or pull it to the local carwash and do it there. I have done both a few times and no problems

Brakleen and a well ventilated area, followed by a DA sanding (or by hand with a 3M scotch bright), wash clean, dry, coat with two coats of etching primer, then Krylon rust tough, or if your car is getting repainted, have the body shop paint the engine bay the same color as the car.

Carfully tape over all connections and open hoses, it takes about half a day. Use the blue painters tape, so you can see all the stuff is done and it makes it easy to remove. I uesed two cans of Gunk, let it set for 3 hours then hit it with a pressure washer. Let the bay dry out than go back in with a parts brush, and a paste of powered tide and water. hit that with the pressure washer. Now it's ready to finish taping off and painting. If you are worried about any of the plugs having water in them, steal the wifes g/fs hair dryer. A heat gun gets to hot. have fun.
