Crown Vic and Marquis were 4.6 mod motors since 1991 I believe and cast iron before that and the only GT40 aluminum heads made by Ford are the GT40X, Y and Z and none were on production cars.

The iron GT40P is the best your going to get at a junk yard. From what I've read, the regular iron GT40 is also an improvement over the stock heads but is that "improvement" worth the time and effort of swapping out just to keep your existing exhaust headers? That is your call.

the p heads flow pretty good already from what ive seen. heres the plan. i have a fully gutted 83 hatch. gonna go get a 5.0 wgt-40 heads (p or just the 40's), slap performer rpm intake, qf650 carb, 150 shot, trick flow stage 1 cam, lt's, msd ignition and distributor, c-4 with 3200 stall and forward manual valve body, shift kit, some drag radials and frame connectors and solid motor/trans mounts. no a/c no power steering no smog no nothin. this thing doesnt even have the windsheild wipers or motor still on it. hopin to get in the mid 11's- low 12's on this setup. of course im going to re-seal the motor with new gaskets and a new oil pump, pushrods, lifters etc. think i can make 320 on motor?
