Newb w/ some questions...

Hello all,
I am about to start a new project that I will need help on. It is my step fathers car which he has owned since new. It is an 88' Hatch LX 5 speed with a stock 302. Maroon exterior (will be painted black) with red interior. Bone stock with approx 130xxx miles. I was wondering which sites everyone uses to buy oem parts and aftermarket parts. I plan on stroking the 302 to a 331 w/ a procharger and a tko tremec. I also need new window seals, etc. Just wanted to see where the best place to buy. Thanks!

It really depends on exactly what you're looking for. If you know brand, make, model and all of that, ebay is probably the cheapest option if you can find it.

It wont be an overnite project. I will be building it for a little while. I had a 300zx Twin Turbo and built it but had to give it up bc of college. Im still in college but I know the fox bodies are a lot easier to mod than 300zx's and a lot cheaper. So I just wanted something to do on the weekends so here I am.

I will be driving/modding. I may stay parked for a couple weeks at a time but it will be driven mostly.

For window seals and stuff like that I recommend CJ Pony Parts - Ford Mustang Parts
out of Harrisburg PA. I have never had any problems with them at all.

They sell everything you would need but I have only purchased OEM stuff.

Just curious - what is the on going rate that people are spending on stroking the motor with a procharger, better tranny (tko tremec), making everything work, etc? I will be doing as much work as I can by myself bc I enjoy doing this but just trying to get a estimate. BTW - Im on the fence on wether or not I wanna do a 331 or a 347. thanks!

With new parts ~ $10 K

Procharger ~ 4K
Stroker ~2k After machine work etc...
TKO upgrade ~ 3K by the time you get it in the car
That leaves 1k for various odds and ends, like a new short block after you split the first one.

cool. I'm not buying a brand new pro charger anyways. I have seen a few come up on ebay for around 1,300-1,400. It can be rebuilt for a lot cheaper than a new one. but the rest will be new.

Personally, I'd just skip the procharger and go right for the 408. You can make 500-550 hp without the supercharger and probably for less money. Plus you will not have to worry about the weak stock block.

im gunna send you $2k and you send me a built stroker? what $2k for a stroker? maybe for the block if aftermarket..if stock block you're talking about $800 minimum for stroker assembly, $500 minimum for machine work and a couple hundred if you dont have any block...then $2000 atleast for top end not including odds and ends
