wheel hop

ok i put my a new rear end in my car with 3.73s in it and i got tubular control arms from blue oval industries, wen i put the rear in i left the quad shock off and now 1st and 2nd have but loads of wheel/axle hop. i thought with aftermarket control arms you dont need the quads. i might just put them back and see if it changes.

Im not sure if the LX or GT springs are differant as long as they are 5.0 lx springs.
The 4cyl LX springs are softer though.
This might be a dumb question but is this a Traction lock rearend?

of course it wheel hops like crazy, those control arms are ment to suplement the rear suspension system and help to eliminate wheel hop. by taking those quads off its like taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back. aftermarket control arms cannot eliminate wheelhop 100% while taking away "structural integrity" of the rear end (quad shocks) id be willing to bet if you put the quads back on you would notice a world of improvment. imo

The quad shocks are a band-aid for a poorly designed factory control arm and nothing more. They do not add any structural integrity or anything else. Are the rear shocks bad? If one or both of the rear shocks have lost their dampening ability you are sure to experience wheel hop. That is what I'd be looking at. Fancy adjustable shocks aren't necessary, all you need is a shock that works.

Shocks go bad often. Some cheap Vatozone $14.99 shocks will work fine. I'd be willing to bet if he took his shocks off, one or both of them will compress easily and quite possibly not have any tension at all.
