Piston Clearance

the sheet that came with my pistons reads:
min. max
3.000-3.624 .0020 .0060
3.625-3.999 .0025 .0065
4.000-4.199 .0030 .0070
4.200-4.500 .0035 .0075

my question is ...that seems like a lot of differece in clearance and which one should I use... says go towards the min for light mods and towards the max for heavy mods....I just want to know whats better. sorry I am a noob in this area...

Something doesn't look right. You bought it from Woody didn't you? If so, call him.

All of the pistons I've ever bought had one number, not a range. Usually .004-.007 depending on the brand.

They should be balancing the entire rotating assembly, not just the crank.

The 4.030 probe piston will measure 4.028 at .500 from the bottom of the skirt, finish hone the cylinders to 4.032-4.033. As for balancing they need everything I sent you so they can weight the rods, pistons etc, then spin the crank and take weight from it. It will end up with a few holes in the front and back counterweights.

Blueprinting is just writing down all the specs and tolerances on a sheet of paper.
