GT40 Intake on SN95
Has anyone put a GT40 Intake [cobra/explorer] on a 94-95 5.0? Do they bolt right up with an elbow adapter? Will the stock hood work? Is there anything other than the elbow that is needed to make a swap from stock intake?
Any experience/comments welcome. Thanks in advance. |

I would get the explorer/gt40/cobra lower intake ported.

i would try to get the sn95 cobra intake. if not i've been told explorer/gt40 intakes will fit with the elbow adapter. if you use a spacer between the upper and lower it might not fit height wise. +1 tony. porting is going to help alot.

I looked a a couple of SN95 cobra intakes and they were a little too expensive for my price range. I got a '97 explorer upper and lower for 200 bucks on eBay and the upper is powder coated while the lower bead blasted clean. Now I am looking at ordering gaskets and other parts that will be needed for the upgrade. I have the elbow and have some flexibility in my cold air system, but don't know if I will need anything else as the GT40 intake is a couple of inches taller than the stock SN95. If anyone has experience with this please help me out, and as always any suggestions and/or comments are welcome.
*I don't really have the money to have them ported atm... |

it will fit fine. that is the cheapest way to do things but sometimes it is better to just spend the money and do it right.

i am putting on a set of gt40 heads and upper and lower intake on my 94 gt. every thing bolts up perfect, other then the smog tubes on the back of the stock heads you will have to eliminate them as the gt40 heads don't have the holes for that. Another problem is the upper intake is about 2-2.5 inches taller and will not allow the hood to close
. you need to either put a hood scoop on it and cut a hole or buy a cobra r hood, i think they will bolt on? i will be trying it very soon. Hope this helps any one.

I know this thread is over a year old but wanted to hear how the heads and intake worked out for you.
