Easiest way to tell if it is a 302 or 351 is the deck height. On a 302 the deck is even with the top of the water jacket for the timing cover. The 351 has a 1" gap between the deck and that water jacket.
As for being roller or not the easiest way to tell is to look at the lifters if the intake is off. If you can't rip it apart then your going to have to start looking at the casting numbers.

Only 94 and newer 351w were roller, so that is not a roller.

you can't make a non-roller block into a roller block.

But you can buy the $500 retrofit roller lifters. So if you are looking for a roller, it is cheaper to start with a roller block.

that is what i meant you're right...but i'd rather a roller to begin with..thats another reason why i dont wanna do 351w swap. i'll stick to roller 5.0's!!!

Why? You can get a roller short block 408 with forged internals balanced and ready to build for well under $2500.

I'll help you through it, if you need help.

Not only will you have a stronger block with the 351 but retrofit roller rockers aren't that expensive.....

yes you can make non-roller block rollers...... all it requires is drilling and tapping holes for the hold downs.

And why does the motor being a roller mean that much to you anyway? You can still make tons of power with a non-roller.....
