Aftermarket Heads?

AFR 185's, GT-40p's, or ported stock 93 heads for a good street setup on nitrous or turbo? Please consider both performance and overall cost.

Woth a good turbo setup, even stock heads will make mad power. Overall though, AFR is the chit no doubt. I don't think there is a better head on the market.

AFR, Trick Flow, Canfield, etc. They all make power. Take your pick.

I think AFR's are the best and I also think that TFS are right behind them.

What experience do you have with them?

I have TFS heads, before I bought them I did an extensive search on AFR's and TFS. One of the reasons I did not go with AFR's, was money but def. AFR's flow better. Now about customer service I think both of them are right there on top but with AFR company they did provided an extensive brochure of their products and company background, something I did not get with TFS until I bought their product.

Who says AFRs flow better? AFR or a third party? I can tell you that I know of a 408 that made more horsepower across the board with a 225cc R series head than with an AFR 225. AFRs flow numbers are so inflated on their site its not even funny. AFR heads are not bad by any means but I've seen time and time again comparable R series and high ports make more power.

My opinion, if you were going with a 302 N/A setup, I think a nice set of used 165's would be the best choice. 302 based stroker, twisted wedge or 185's will give you better results. From what I have read, the twisted wedge and holley heads are the only 2.02" valve heads that you do not have to get the pistons notched, depending on the head gasket and rod length and a few other things. I think for your setup, you'll be happiest with the twisted wedge. But really, all are great products. I don't have much knowledge on the canfield heads.
