91 LX Refuses to Start

Hey guys. I need help from you stang experts out there. My 91 LX just refuses to start. Here is what I have done to troubleshoot the problem in steps of course:

-Verified spark....all cylinders good
-Verified Timing #1 TDC
-Verified fuel pressure...all plugs new and wet
-Replaced TFI module on distributor
-Verified all engine compartment connections are connected
-Verified mass air sensor good with another new one I have
-Verified TPS sensor idle and WOT voltage
-Replaced battery with brand new Optima
-Replaced Cap, Rotor, and Coil
-Went through the EEC EFI troubleshooting procedure. Everything checks good.
-Replaced EEC and MAP Sensor

The car cranks but wont light off. It even smells like inormal exhaust when I try to crank it. The only thing left to replace would be the plug wires and the IAC sensor. Could a Faulty Ignition switch cause a no start condition? I think the next thing I'm going to try is Magic. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes. You cant check the timing correctly without knowing the firing order. The car cranks but will not start

I noticed that you said that your plugs were wet, if too wet it won't start. This just happened to me today and I couldn't get my 93 LX cranked it sounded like it wanted to but it would never do it. So I pulled the plugs and they were wet, bought a new set and it started right up. Hope this helps

I dont know what that could be. I have bbk equal lengths/xpipe w/ no cats, and brand new flowmaster/catback.

By putting the distributor rotor on backwards...

Your plugs shouldn't be wet. If they are, what are they wet with? Fuel, oil, water? If they are wet with fuel, you are not getting enough spark, could be the coil or your timing or too much fuel pressure. If they are wet with oil or water, you have other problems like a blown head gasket. You need a fuel pressure gauge reading and a compression or leak down check.

Also there are 2 firing orders for 302s, make sure you are using the correct one. And timing and firing order aren't related and you can't set or check timing unless the car is running. If you moved the distributor at all, your timing is likely to be off. Try rotating it around a little bit at a time.

yeah its gotta be 180* out...make sure the rotor is facing directly back and the #1 spark plug boot on cap is straight back too...

It sounds to me like the timing chain could have jumped. If you have 106K on it without having a new chain, it could have jumped. Or is so totally stretched it is out of time.
