Clean Injectors?

Just picked up some 24# injectors out of a 95 lincoln continental. At least I think they're 24

Any recommended cleaning/service to do prior to attempting to use them? Got a 24# c&l tube on the way.

Trying to decide on putting the new injectors in prior to heading back to the dyno, or wait til afterwards and see how the stockers hold up.

Just installed our trick flow intake/cam/heads over the weekend.

Thanks again to Ujslost. He helped us get everything in, on top of going on a high speed run to Seco 30 minutes before closing

i think i remember reading somewhere that cleaning them consists of blowing alot of air through them.

As far as changing them before or after the tune, i would do it before...Whoever is tuning the car will be able to lean the car out if it is running rich because of the injectors.

Injectors are an electromagnetic valve, is the valve locked open or closed when not powered?

The correct way is to have them cleaned and flowed. We have a cleaning and flow bench availible if your interested.

When you test them, do you have a large assortment of injectors to get a good average?

these are just interim injectors until we get bigger ones. Just put a new top end on and knew the 19lbs would be stretched to their limits, but didn't want to drop $300 on a set of 24lb injectors when I'm going to put a supercharger on in a month or two and the 24lbers would be obsolete.

Our guy has an ASNU Injector Flow and Clean Bench You do all 8 at once. Check flow and pattern first then try to clean. Some still won't clean and if so you need to replace. Also just because their new doesn't mean anything. I had my new 60's flow and one was trash.

Found this link: Ford Fuel Injection » Fuel Injector Cleaning

Thinking about just replacing the o-rings/spacers/pintal caps/filters and trying the soaking thing.

Anyone see how the above cleaning method would damage the injectors?

Seem like it would be fine. the only think I would worry about is leaving them soak for too long in an agressive solvent might weaken some of the plastic.

you are so "pro-my clean and flow bench" O_O its like everything everyone says is against what you believe and is wrong. there are ways to clean things without sending them away and paying someone to do it :-)

This is mostly a DIY forum.. try to help answer the question of how he can safely clean them without trying to earn some money?

I meant soaking them. What can go wrong with soaking em?

I know bench/flow is ideal, but that kills the whole buy some cheap ones to use for a month idea.

dude just clean em. make sure you remove the o rings before you do it. if you think the solvent is too strong, add some gas to it :-)

Do you flow to check them, or flow test to match?

You might not have any problems with it but if I were you I would send that C&L meter back and get something else, like a Pro-M or something.. C&L does not have a good track record with idling and drivability.. I mean it might not happen to you but they are not good meters..

Because everyone does not have 300 buck to spend. If you can get them on the cheap then go 4 it.

There is no sending it back, we've had it for a while now. I'm just ordering a new calibration tube.

The stock tubing wouldn't work for the 75mm TB, so we've got the true flow elbow with it as well. When we go to a charger, we're planning on ebaying the MAF w/ the elbow.

So far we've had 0 problems with it, pretty pleased with it actually.
