Soooo... Ever Forget To Latch Your Hood?

so last night was a decent night, so i cleaned up the mustang a little, had the battery out on charge, so i opend the hood to put it back in and when i shut the hood...well.. i guess i didnt slam it hard enough and it didnt latch..

luckly i was only going 25 mph down my street when it flew up, and thank god i wasnt going fast enough to crack the glass hood right off the hinges.

That really sucks. How much is it going to take to fix it?

I lost a gas cap once.

i did the same exact thing the day i bought my 89. the front end was already smashed up, so the hood wouldnt latch, but i thought i had it tied down...apparently not!!! Yeah the hood was already unrepairable, but the area behind the hood was then smashed like yours, and there are two very small dents on the roof, but i think that i could fix them. right now though, i have to fix the blown head gasket, and then worry about the body damage. Good luck replacing that, and please let us know how much it is going to cost to fix that!

Might be an option...

I forgot ot latch mine on my 1984 Thunderbid Elan...Yeah it flipped up and destroyed the hood and laid a nice dent on the top of the cab...

So I found a stock hood in a junk yard that was in good condition and then I grabbed a hood scoop off of a 1981 Camaro and molded that onto the hood...It looked really good...But that really has no input to the story...lol

My hood has no latch. Just pins. And so will the 2's hood here soon as I get it cut and molded.

not sure how much it will cost to fix, theres a small crack in the corner or the hood, dont think it will be to big of a problem, but i dont know what the cowl panels run or how hard they are to find so i guess ill start looking around.

Mine let go once after someone backed into me.
I was doing about 65 when it flew up. Thank god only Damage was the cowl. The Hood got pins after that and never drive the car without them.

I had a body shop fix for about $150.00-$200.00. They pushed it back up and put a slight bit of Bondo on it. You can't tell it was ever fixed.
I bought the grill myself and installed it.

LoL I think this has happened to everyone lol Especially people with pin on fiberglass hoods. I did the same thing to my 88 GT. I had a 4'' cowl but luckly the hood was fiberglass and not strong enough to do any damage besides crack the cowl. It still sucked because I had to fix it but I do most of my own body work like that so it was no big deal. You should be able to find a nice hood in a junkyard somewhere for like 50 bucks and that center piece (where the cowl is screwed onto) comes out and you might be able to find one on ebay if you are lucky. Good Luck!
