long block or short block?


as you know i'm still working on the 3.8 to 5.0 swap. i was wondering if a long block or short block would be better. thanks

it sounds like u do not know what long block and short block mean... longblock is a complete engine block,crank,rods,pistons,cam,heads (some places it also has a timing cover,oil pan,intake waterpump,)pretty much put it in turn the key...

a short block is just block crank,rods,pistons

best thing would be get a short block from woody and build it from there..

a long block is not a turn key motor!it includes,block,crank, rods,pistons,heads,most do not have a timing chain cover,no intake,no oil pan,and a cam in most with a timing chain,pushrods and roller rockers.And no water pump


It is just a short block with heads and valve train nothing else

thats what i said...did u see the(......) but i have seen that some places have a complete engine say longblck....

OH OK!they can be referred to as long blocks but should be referred as a complete or turnkey engine

ya i was going to use the word turn key but insted i used (pretty much put it in turn the key)
