408 Stroker Kit?

Looking at going a little bigger then the stock 302. What would be a good kit. I have looked at Jegs and Summit they their kits are very nice. Would like some feed back from you all. It is in a 90 5.0 lx notch. Would like the set up to be for some boost (s/c).

408 Strokers are pretty badass man. Especially with forged internals. They withstand a lot of abuse. Although they are pretty heavy too.

I am pretty sure they are the same as the 302 (weight that is). Going to go with a World Block (I think).

Apparently Eagle makes a 408 stroker kit for the 302.

They are about 100 lbs heavier with internals than a 302. The world blocks are even heavier than that. But for sure the added power will offset the weight.

Anyway, why do you think you need a world block, you planning on more than 700 hp?

Here is a shortblock for you

That what you get for believing summit...lol

I find about 10 mistakes everytime I look for something there. Like yesterday I was looking at fuel pumps and they had an external EFI pump listed at flowing 325 gallons per hour... I was like yeah...went to the manufacturers website and it should have read 325 lbs of fuel per hour, which is like 54 gph.

Well here is some math for you...a 408 stroker uses a 4 inch stroke. Try putting that in a 8.2 inch deck height motor. (4 x 0.5) + (1.3 piston comp height) = 3.3, 8.2-3.3 = 4.9 inch rod required with an ultra small comp height piston.

your rod to stroke ratio would be 1.22...

Darrell, would that burn oil and break piston skirts?

really

i thought that the only 302 block that can hold any more then 347ci was the boss block which can handle up to 363ci safely
