that really isn't a bad price for ceramic coated.

bonus points for being 3 bolt flange

loses those bonus points for being 1 5/8" primaries

good price, especially for 3" collectors. Get some Stage 8 locking header bolts and you probably wont have any problems with them.

I think they look pretty good. If you are careful and you don't chip the ceramic when installing them, I bet they will last a long time. But I bet under that coating is some of the cheapest mild steel you can find...still...for the price, I'd buy them

Not for a 302, 1 5/8" is perfect.

I don't believe there is a *perfect* header primary diameter and length for a 302 in general. There are many variables that will effect the size needed to optimize power production. These include RPM operating range, camshaft duration, induction, gearing, etc.

These examples are extreme to illustrate the point:

For example, Engine #1 consists of a stock 5.0L longblock with the basic bolt-ons, i.e., pulleys, off-road pipes, mufflers, 3.55/3.73's.

Engine #2 306 c.i.d., aftermarket block, 0 oz. crank, aluminum rods, domed pistons, 205 cc cylinder heads, mechanical roller, Super Victor intake, carb, 4.88's.

Engine #1 has a shift point of maybe 5,500 and makes peak power around 4,800 or so.

Engine #2 has a shift point of 9,200 and makes peak power in the mid to high 8,000 rpm range.

These two engines require a substantially different amount of air-flow in the operating ranges. And therefore require different sizing of header primaries to efficiently expel the residual gasses from the combustion.

An over-simplified explanation would be: to create enough scavenging during overlap to pull the residual gases from the chamber and start the intake charge coming into the chamber. If it's over scavenged, the intake charge will get sucked out of the exhaust. And if it's under-scavenged the residual gasses will remain in the chamber.

Yeah, your right. Those examples and explianation are fairly extreme.
