unless you have a manual valve body....you can just stick it in drive and cruise, if its got a shift kit it makes it a little more uncomfortable on shifts and just regular drving but a AOD with a shift kit is good, but you would also want a good stall converter, probably like a 2500-2700 for a mild one |

now a stall converter is what allows automatics to get up in the higher rpm`s before the transmission actually enguages on a street car you want about a 2500-2700 stall (thats the RPMS it will enguage at) so with a mild shift kit, and the perfect converter, you can have a mean auto trans but you dont have the feel and the constant gear changing of a manaul but like they said earlier, "its really on what you want in a street car" so go drive bolth and decided on your own |

there less comfortable because with a shift kit, its making a "hard shift" (no comments from nba please) that means everytime that car shifts, its not smooth and is like a sudden jolt, i dont know hot to explain it but with a manaul, you can shift smooth, or you can shift hard.....its up to you |

MVB are usually harsh at all RPMS since they are fixed line pressure. Without the TV cable or EPC solenoid working the trans has no reference to adjust pressure.
A quality shift kit or vb in an AOD can make it worth while anyday.

ok, so a shift kit on an AOD doesnt feel as comfortable while driving as just a regular AOD or a stick? and with a stick, is a short throw shifter a nice thing to have? like is it necessary or just a realllllllllllllly sexy option? lol

i'd get a 5 speed.. they're just more fun.. that's the only thing i dislike about my mustang, the fact that it is AOD

ive also asked a few friends that arent from mm, theyve told me stick is the way 2 go as well. 1 guy at work has a '00 gt, (i think). his is stick and he told me he had an AOD before this 1, and that stick was the only way 2 drive a stang. so as of now i think im leaning more towards manual. i honestly havent learned how to drive stick yet, so im thinking once i see how well i do while learning, it'll influence me a lot

I have a built AOD on my car, it's alot of fun to drive. Faster then stick I would say, with a manual valve body you can't go wrong. AOD is the way to go...

hey man its completely up to you, and what you want to do, but if you drive around in traffic alot, you clutch foot always gets really tired, then you get sick of it
but i think if your not doing a all out race build, manaul is the way to go |

I've never heard a male that knows how say they don't like driving stick.
I have heard lots and lots of peoples say they don't like driving autos.

it sounds like u want an automatic ...lol 9 of ten people suggest stick shift and u ask if an auto will have a chance aganst a 5 speed.. the answer is no if u just have basic bolt on's the stick will be faster. the t-5 will last if u put a pro 5.0 shifter in it and learn to drive it. nither is a bad choice like everyone said test them both out and see which u like more. but no matter what u get its still a fox body mustang so its all good after that
