Loading / Idle Problems On Fresh 331... Please Help!

I'm new to Fords...and Fuel Injection, in particular. I recently built a 311, have th TFTW heads, intake and cam, added 30lb. injectors and tuned MAF for injectors and 75mm bbk tbody. I had no real problems, other than "hunting idle" before I switched the TB and MAF. Now, the car holds RPM's up after acceleration....you can barely mash the throttle and it will surge to 4000 rpms and hold for about 10 seconds before idling down. THe engine is also loading up on me....backfires terrible at decelleration. Timing is set at 10 base, fuel pressure is at minimum without stalling.( tried several different settings)..about 26 lbs, has new TPS and control solenoid (however you spell it). ALL EGR has been removed...still running O2 sensors..dunno if Im supposed to do that or not...like I said..fuel injection is new to me! I can get a set of sensor simulators for a freind for $50.00...if that'll help and a diode for the EGR for $30.00. If I can ever get this beast running right...she'll be hot and heavy...pulls like a mule on acceloration...still running rich, too...The engine also pulls massive vacuum on the oil fill tube...dunno if the crankcase vent in the intake works that well or if I have another problem....If you guys have any ideas, shoot'em this way!

Why is your fuel rail pressure set that low, 26 lbs? As I mentioned to another fellow here, try setting that pressure to 38 lbs while the vacuum line is detached from the regulator, and then connect it back.

Maybe you need a tune, since your displacement is more than stock and you've upgraded the MAF & injectors.. take it to a local dyno, and based on what you have, let a pro burn you a chip.. Jim may be able to help you with that.. check his shop's website @ swtuning.com

Wow, you need a doctor. Too many variables on this one to tell here. There are no cut and dried answers for these problems.

ya, hard to say, but mine idled wacky when i first bought it and still did after i changed every damn sensor in the car but it turned out to be the throttle position sensor. those things are touchy but easy to set if you have a multimeter. but, it was pretty much stock so...... ???? i dunno
