Please Help! Suspension Problems!

I bought a 88 convertible 5.0 and the steering feels like a crappy virtual race game. While driving i am able to turn the wheel in any direction about 25 degrees without and response in steering. But as soon as I pass the 25 the car lunges into that direction. It looks as if I am Driving Under the Influence. It is fun to watch but not to drive please help!

sounds as if something is worn in the steering or frt suspension. Since safety is involved here(yours and the others around you), I suggest taking to a professional who can ck all the components as well as the alignment.

Mine had a similar problem and it was the piece between the column and the shaft down to the power steering pump. It was the nylon/rubber connection peice, it was square looking with 2 bolts in one side for the lower connection and 2 bolts in the upper side for the upper column. Mine one side broke free so only half of it was connected. So it would still steer you just had a good 1 turn play in it before it would do something.

Very unsafe, it broke as i was driving and i almost smacked a parked car on the road we live on.

Might be something to look at to start if your style car has that type of connection.

Yes have it looked at soon.
It could be the Rag joint
It could be bad Tie rods
It could be bad Balljoints

Which are all DANGEROUS to drive with.

Seen to many after pics of cars with those parts breaking while driving.

whoa! I didnt realize how serious it could get. It isnt my daily driver so i wont be driving it untill I can get a good idea on what it is. Then I will get it looked at by a professional ASAP! I love broken parts. It gives me a good reason to upgrade. Thank you for all your help.
