Tuning

I have a 306 Efi 5.0 block 10:1 comp, 4.66 Lift cam stock heads and the motor is refreshed. I will be running 93 octane in this motor and I am curious what a good base timing is? A friend of mine was telling me about 12 degrees would be a good starting point also would 38 to 41 psi on fuel pressure be about right for this motor.

Thanks

jon

12 degrees to start with is fine. Work your way up until you dont notice an increase in power, or the engine loses power, than back it down a degree or two. With fuel pressure, adjust the pressure with the vacuum line off, and the port plugged. Richen the mixture (increase pressure) until you get the best performance at WOT. Adjust your timing first.
