my question is why do you want to go carb?
carbs are dead, fuel injection is where its at. carbs are usually know with bad MPG and very poor drivability, and dont forget cold starts.

its alot cheaper to rebuild one carb then replace 8 injectors or deal with computer problems. if you have a fuel isue its the carb or the pump if you have an ignition isue its the distributer the coil or the dura spark box.
simplicity old school muscle performance chip=$300.00 screw driver= 99 cents |

some people like fi some like carbs
i like the looks of a carb and the smaell of gas on a cold morning it was easier for me to go carbed be cause i did a 4cly conversion and i didnt have a wiring harness or computer and i blew up my 4 banger and had to make my car go, but now i can get any parts from a number of vehicles because its carbed my carburater cam off a 1972 amc alot of more choices with a carb. do you have any questions on converting? |

Man I would go to the carb. I got a 89 I made to a carb and it saved me over $900. because you can take out the computer, wiring ,upper and lower intake, and injectors and sell them off to someone going FI. Think about it if you mod a FI your looking at upper and lower intake, injectors, bigger throtle body, cold air intake. On a carb your looking at the carb and intake. Go carb, but I see if you use it for everyday use. I went carb but I use mine for the track only, and maybe drive around one or two nights and bust a ricers ass.

There are some better intakes out there. I actually just built a 5.0 with a carb. It will be going in the car next weekend. I chose to go with a single plane intake because I plan on throwing a bunch of Nitrous at it. In this case, I used an Edelbrock Victor Jr. To be honest, there are a TON of little tricks that you should know about when doing this swap. The right Carb/Intake/Heads/Cam set up is going to make more power than you can ever hope to with fuel injection N/A. But it's all about what you're trying to do here. |

My honest opinion about carbs is you do get a heck of a lot more HP from a carb than FI. If I want more power, turn up the screws vice versa when you leave the track. But FI you have to buy a $1,000,000,000,000 superchips thing and plug it up to your comp and spend the next 4 hours properly tuning.
All you need Carburetors: Manifold, Carb, FI: Intake, TB, Complete fuel setup to run the stuff, injectors, Fuel rail, fuel line, fuel this and that. Besides, while the ricers have there little aftermarket ECU and 20 inch turbo setups with little fart pipes trying to revup next to me, im blowing them at the light and smoking a cig waiting on them at the next light up

MPG PROBLEM??? Just find a ricer that's added a fartpipe and cut the cats, race em for $20.00 and call it a night, you have extremely easy gas money. "POOR DRIVEABILITY"????..... Poor my ARSE!!! Sheesh I wake up early just to go out with my 5.0 and smack a couple of ricers for a good wake up!!!

You can make power easier with a carb because they are easier to tune. As far as fuel injection not making any horsepower, my brother in laws naturally aspirated, fuel injected 308 with factory Ford electronics will beat up on alot of big inch carbureted cars. You can make plenty of power with EFI. If the car is a daily driver I'd stick with EFI.

I think the carb set up is big when people do the 4cyl to 5.0 swap....a carb can cost some bux to...you just don't put on a carb with say big cams,heads...there's power valves to chose from when cams are changed due to vacuum, jets changes, squirt sizes, throttle cams, accel pumps,etc.... efi set up isn't to all much more $$$$$...19 # injectors work on upto 285hp this fits about 50-60% of all stang....as for chips..there are a few palce all you need is 1 that you can make changes for about all combos....
as for the toker intaker ...it's not outdated...hell the SPYDER intake uses it for big gains on efi cars..... |
