Thanks. that gave me a better idea on the exaust. That was one of my main questions. If anybody knows about the two pipes that dump into a single muffler please let me know. Thank again.

well you could ditch the Y pipe and get an H pipe but you need to get a Double Hump tranny cross member for the H pipe to work/fit.

and you can have Dual Exhaust

Or you could get a little more from it and have an xpipe put in, with highflow cats.

maby, but i really want sound more than power. I figure that would still sound good but i dont think I'll be going to the track a whole lot, maby an x, but for now i would like mac long headers shorty h pipe and mac cat backs. that thing would scream. for speed i would put in an 3.75 gear ratio, and a cold air intake. thats probably what i would start with. also depending on the cash i have.

I would highly recommend not going with MAC LongTube headers. To start, they are the BIGGEST PITA to install and the quality of them are horrible. I baught a pair of them and wanted to shoot myself. The coated completly burnt off in about 600 miles and they literally look like they are 10 years old already. I took them off. Also, with a stock car you dont want to run long tubes because it will kill your low end... go with a nice set of BBK shorty headers... you will be happy. Also, the gear ration you are talking about would be 3.73's.... And for the CAI, I would pass on that. There are other things to spend your money on. Just remove your air silencer and replace your filter with a nice K&N. Spend your money on a 65mm TB and a bigger MAF. Just my .02. Also, if you dont want to get more power out of your car because of gas or driveability issues you can always work on the suspension.

I have an 84 GT and it is a little harder to find parts for the 79 -86 but not impossible. My 84 had a wopping 175 hp from the factory. Brakes, exhaust and suspension all suck. But with lots of money it makes a nice four eyed freak.

yea, the 82 is kinda hard to find parts for also. I am thinking of an 86 5.0 gt. It seems like their are just a hell of a lot more parts for it.
