88 5.0 LX Clutch Quadrant


i almost rearended someone yesterday when my clutch quadrant broke. this will be the second one ive installed and the one that was on it before looked like whoever owned it, jimmy rigged it with a steel plate to reinforce it. why is my car so hard on clutch quadrants?

im gonna try an aftermarket quadrant; steel or whatever, i just dont understand why the oem one is made of plastic if it is under that much stress. there has got to be something else goin on here> someone please help me

Do you have an aftermarket clutch? It's pretty common to have stock plastic quadrant problems with performance clutches. Other than that, maybe you cable is binding or something, or the clutch cable is adjusted too tight.

better knock on wood, last time i went bragging about a part i was very happy with(a tilton starter) it grinded all the teeth off the next time i started it.

scale of 1-10 how hard is it to replace the quadrant... i wanna do the firewall mounted adjuster and put a diff quadrant in. and if someone could tell me how to do it that would be great. thanks
