Come on guys, its not impossible to go 10s with a naturally aspirated 302. With a $4,000 budget? Thats the aspect that i dont see happening.

i built my car from the ground up and i have 10 grand in it and it still has the stock 8.8 axles and it needs a paint job really bad, and i bought the motor used for 1800 bucks so good luck with your 4 k budget
you need at least 450 hp to run 10s in a mustang so how do u propose to make that much hp with a stock 302 ?? you're gonna have to really spin it up and high rpms , super lightweight rotating assemblies and steep gears don't make for a reliable driver, now i can see a stroked windsor all motor 10 sec car being much more reliable ( better block, better head sealing and lower rpms ) Last edited by 86_Notch; February 22nd, 2008 at 02:29 PM. |

LOL. oh you want to go on pinks. Yea they do like the 10second cars on that show. Problem is those cars are always 9 second sand baggers. they would eat you alive.
I know the guys from STS performance that were on that show with a fox stang. Pinks told them to bring a 10second car. They built the car, took it there, won. but they got a 9.7 out of that stang when they tested it at the track woops. Good luck brother. I dont see it happening.

It's totally possible to put a mustang into the 10s with 4,000.
All you have to do is put a turbo kit in it (Newtrod's kits are like $3000). That leaves you $1000 for extras. You have to do all the work yourself and find deals on anything else you need. A progressive boost controller would help. I knew a guy that was a regular last year at Byron with a stock 302 that was running 10s with a used cartech turbo kit. He built a 331 and ran low 9s with a mild 1.55-1.60 60 foot on MT drag radials.
