alot of people use the 94-95 alternator as an upgrade.....and wat you were thinking of is a 3g because they are internally regulated instead of externally.....

i say just go with this one wire 150 amp 3g

eBay Motors: FORD MUSTANG 1-WIRE 3G ALTERNATOR 65-1996 150 AMP (item 130194129784 end time Feb-27-08 21:18:15 PST)

Ok so what do you do with the rest of the wires going to the alternator doesn't one go to the volt or amp meter on the dash. I think i want atleast a 200 amp if not 250amp to.
So why do some of the on ebay say 65-96 and some only say 94-95?

lol 150 amp is fine trust me get the one from eagle auto electronics on ebay. Do a 0 gauge from the alternator to the battery trust me you will love it. I purchased it and i have a 2200 watt stereo and it charges my battery perfectly.
