is it possible to just run a shorter belt (the 71" belt) and just take off the smog pump and a/c or do I have to relocate the power steering pump to where the a/c was?

I was told you had to relocate the P/S because the belt would rub itself above the water pump.

on my old mustang i used a small thin bracket its just like a 5" peice of flat bent steel and i used that to move the alternator and it cleared the water pump pully.
