Stock 1995 5.0 5 Speed With Off Road Mac H-Pipe 2.5 Inchs

High everyone ! i am a big fan of this forum and one of the biggest fan of mustang out there, i own a ford mustang gt 1995 5.0 5 speed that has 100 000km and is completely stock except if you can call that modds : off-road mac h-pipe 2.5 inchs with no cats.. and flowmasters 40 series mufflers and a k&n air filter (yeah you can laugh). Now i notice since the change of the exhaust that the car rpm goes quicker and further in the rpm range, i mean before the change i was shifting at max 5000 rpm to get the most of it and now it seems it can go at around 5400 rpm without any trouble.. BUT i think i lost a little grunt at the low end, when i shift in second gear i dont fill to boom like before in my back, maybe because i just got good tires ( 245/45zr17 geforce kdw). Now i think a 2.5 inchs mac h-pipe is just a perfect fit for a stock 5.0 isn t ? if i went a little to big for the engine i have with this h-pipe, what for less then 2000 $ (canadian) i should pack there to get the most out of my car for 1/4 miles ? i looked for some head (gt-40p, afr 165 holley systemax...) i m a little lost in what i should do do get the more hp for less money and staying with a reliable car can you help me please you mustang freaks out there , we are all a big family here so i hope i will get plenty of advise to make my choice easier !!

Thank you very much guys,

Me and the stang say thanks in advance ;o) :award

this might not help in the hp category but put a set of 3:73 or 4:10 gears in there. it will help with taking off alot faster!

If you are REALLY concerned about gas mileage than you can go with a set of 3.55's or 3.73's. IMO, 3.55's are worthless but alot of people like them because it barely affects gas mileage and you will still definetly get a good bang for the buck.

If you are not sure about the heads, cam, intake, etc. and you want to take all of the guesswork out of it than you can go with the TrickFlow Top End Kit. It comes with trickflow heads, upper/lower intake manifold, pushrods, hardware, gaskets, trickflow valve covers, timing chain and trickflow stage one cam. It all matches up very well and with supporting mods (exhaust, throttle body, maf, etc.) you should acheive somewhere around 300rwhp.

Trust me, everyone here will agree with the kit. Its VERY popular and many many many people run it with sucess. Yes, if you wanted to you could piece together your own h/c/i combination that would produce better numbers BUT for a nice street car this would do just fine. If you get this kit, add exhaust, 65mm throttle body and a 73mm MAF you will be right around 300rwhp. I would also upgrade to 24lb injectors and a larger fuel pump. But thats it! Here is a link to the kit from TrickFlows website...

well, longtubes put up better numbers, but are a bitch to put in. Shorties are good for what you might be looking for, a street car with 300 horses. if you are going to spend the money and the time, might as well go with long tubes though. It would suck to put in shorties and then want to go with long tubes.
