battery in trunk, crappy start


i put the battery in the trunk and ran 1 power wire up to the sil, i self tapped the ground in the trunk,, just to the sheet metal, now when i start it, it takes forever, and its not charging the battery now, im confused.

I have mine in the back and have no problems.
I grounded to the quad shock bolt hole

ur ground is probably not efficient enought... make sure it is grounded to a bare piece of un painted metal. The frame is best and it shouldnt be a problem to run it down there... there should be a rubber grommet under the spare tire that will let you run the ground right under the car, without having to drill a hole

i have my battery in the trunk, i'll try and get some pics today, but yea, a sheet metal ground i dont think is going to cut it

i fought a ground problem and ended up running it all the way back up to the freakin' block!

Put the battery back where is belongs

I moved my battery to the passenger side rather than relocate it to the trunk for this very reason (I had to move the battery to fit my procharger).

yea thats always an option too... lol but i know thats not what u wanna do, obviously. i just kept mine under the hood as i realized that i didnt want to create any problems that i dont have to deal with now

another good grounding point in any car is the seats. take one of the bolts loose from the frame and ground it there. even in a fiberglass vette. best place for it IMO.

+1 ive heard many people relocating their battery successfully when they attach the ground to the seat bolt

To small of power cables or bad connections.

Did you clean the grind/clean the paint off from the sheetmetal area that you grounded to?
